Adjustable Mixer Enhances Snack Production

Solids handling equipment maker, Ajax Equipment, has supplied a leading snack producer with two stainless steel twin-screw mixers to expand production. One of the mixers is mounted on a mobile stand enabling the height and angle of the mixer to be adjusted to meet the plant configuration required for each product, as well as helping to drain the mixer after cleaning operations.

When handling and processing food it is essential to maintain the integrity of the ingredients; over 50 years Ajax has developed a range of features to help food producers achieve high quality products. In this case, both mixers utilise Ajax’s LynFlow paddles to provide gentle yet thorough mixing, ensuring a homogenous mix without compromising on quality.

The mixers also gently heat the ingredients inside. To do this, warm water is circulated through a jacket around the machines’ casing as well as along the screws’ centre tube, helping to maintain an even temperature throughout the machine. The mixing screws also feature quick release couplings making it easy to remove the augers for regular cleaning or to allow product changeover.
